James "Jed " Davis
A native of Charlotte, NC
received his BA in Music Education from Limestone College in Gaffney, SC. where his principle teacher was Dr. J David Morris and Dr. Robert Welch.
He then served as band director at Hartsel Middle School in Concord, NC. from 1986-88.

An alumnus of The Kilts Drum and Bugle Corps from Racine, Wisconsin and The Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps from Philadelphia, Pa. Jed has been on the instructional staff and\or has served as an arranger for multiple world class drum and bugle corps including,

Florida Wave, Pembroke Pines, Fl.
Colts, Dubuque, Iowa
Magic of Orlando
Spirit,Jacksonville, Al
Troopers, Casper Wy.

In 1997 he was the music
arranger/instructor for
The Alliance of Miami Colorguard, who that year presented a groundbreaking show featuring the performers playing percussion instruments in addition to and sometimes in conjunction with their normal equipment and dance responsibilities. The guard went on to a fourth place finish in Independent World Class at the WGI World Championships held in Phoenix, Az.

From 1985-2005 Mr Davis served as percussion caption head and arranger at Central Cabarrus HS in Concord, NC. During his tenure the band was a three time BOA Grand National finalist, BOA Mid South Regional champion, and was the winner of the 1988 BOA Grand National Championships

The band was also an eleven time finalist at the BOA Atlanta Regional.

Mr Davis was the percussion director at Cooper City High School in Cooper City Fl. from 1991-2017 and has held that position at NUMEROUS schools in Broward and Palm Beach counties as well as at schools in North and South Carolina.
During his time at Cooper City
his indoor percussion ensembles were the WGI South Florida Regional Open Class Champions four times and became the first group of this type from South Florida to achieve finalist status at the WGI World Championships held in Dayton, Ohio.
In 2009 the Cooper City
Percussion Ensemble
performed as a featured ensemble at the Music For All National Concert Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Currently, he is the percussion caption head and arranger at West Boca Raton HIgh School where his Concert Open Class ensemble was undefeated SFWGA circuit champions and South Florida WGI Regional Open Class Champions from 2013-2016. They were the 2017 FFCC Concert Open Class silver medalists and FFCC Concert Open Class bronze medalists in 2018.

He has served as the drumline instructor for the University of Miami "Band of the Hour" and has been a clinician for the University of New Mexico "Marching Lobos Band”
in Albuquerque,NM.

Mr Davis has performed with numerous South Florida ensembles including The Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, The Greater Miami Opera, and the Boca Pops, He has also served as the Assistant Principal Percussionist in the Asheville Symphony Orchestra in Asheville, N.C. He was a founding member of The New Percussion Group of Miami a percussion quartet specializing in contemporary percussion literature,
performing in venues such as
The Colony Theatre, Miami, Fl
The Hollywood Arts and Culture Center, Hollywood, Fl. and Bailey Hall on the campus of Broward College where they were the featured ensemble at the Percussive Arts Society Florida State Convention,having been selected to present the world premiere of composition contest winner, Brian Benscoter’s work “Salty Fish Flesh “

In 2001 he attended and completed the inaugural East Coast Facilitators Playshop, a five day intensive workshop held outside of Baltimore, Maryland by drum circle facilitation pioneer and legend Arthur Hull.
He later attended a five day seminar on corporate event facilitation
held in Santa Cruz, Ca. taught by Hull and corporate trainer Jim Boneau.
Through his facilitation company, HeartBeat RhythmCircles, he has facilitated for a wide range of clients, in diverse setting, from faculty teambuilding events at high schools, middle schools and elementary schools, to parties, Bar Mitzvas, weddings, and graduation celebrations, and has recently been featured at the DONA International Summit held at the W Hotel in Ft Lauderdale, Fl. and has been a keynote presenter multiple times for the Memorial Healthcare Systems
Nurses Clinical Ladder Symposium with approximately two hundred and fifty participants.

HeartBeat RhythmCircles has, and does provide services, for free, to Relay for Life, Kids in Distress, and other selected charities as part of their community outreach.

Music Educators
Percussion Forum
A virtual twelve week course designed to be a comprehensive guide for instrumental music teachers who would like to strengthen their knowledge of the instruments of the percussion family and their associated pedagogues.
The first annual event hosted participants from throughout the US and from as far away as Shanghai, China.
