MISSION STATEMENT
Our Mission statement and goals adhere to Broward County Schools’ vision for music education is based on the concept that music is an essential part of life, integral in the development of the whole child, and is vital for the advancement of culture and human civilization. A comprehensive music education engages learners in developing self-esteem, self-discipline, cooperation, creativity, and self-motivation for success. The skills and technical qualities involved in creating, recreating, and interpreting works in the fine arts also provides lifelong appreciation of the culture of people. Our vision is that students will engage in the arts at a deeply enriching level for them, their families, and their community.
One of our goals is to create and maintain an enthusiastic and positive interest of all Stoneman Douglas Band students by encouraging and cultivating positive participation in band activities by all students, parents, and other individuals or groups interested in developing the quality and size of the program. We consistently maintain dignified and supportive relationships between those who are interested in developing the quality of the program while we assist our Director of Bands, Mr. Steve Rivero, in said activities above.
