BANDS
The STONEMAN DOUGLAS Band Program consist of 3 concert bands.
JAZZ
BAND I & II (Jazz Ensemble 2, 3, 4 Honors)
Students enrolled in the jazz program will be placed in one of three jazz bands. Membership in JAZZ BAND I (top jazz band) and JAZZ BAND II (second jazz band) is based on audition. Students in JAZZ BAND I & II will refine concepts unique to jazz, with emphasis placed on the development of swing, Latin, rock and contemporary styles of repertoire and performance. This course requires daily class work and periodic after-school rehearsals and performances.
*Students must be enrolled in a regular Band Class to participate in Jazz Band unless they can only play a non-concert instrument.
JAZZ
BAND III (Jazz Ensemble 1, 2)
Students enrolled in the jazz program will be placed in one of three jazz bands. Students in JAZZ BAND III will be introduced to concepts unique to jazz, with emphasis placed on improvisation skills, as well as the development of swing, Latin, rock and contemporary styles of repertoire and performance. There is no audition required for membership in Jazz Band III. This course requires daily class work and periodic after-school rehearsals and performances.
*Students must be enrolled in a regular Band Class to participate in Jazz Band unless they can only play a non-concert instrument.
